No, that is actually true now. Older machines did operate the way you describe, and even though some 'expert' books may describe it that way, you'll find they were written a number of years ago and not updated. I also misstated in my earlier post about the way the draw happens, sorry if I confused anyone. My point was holding one card over another will cause a difference in timing when you hit the deal button, and hence the cards drawn.

Is this true? I thought on most machines the cards were already lined up
behind the draw waiting to fall into place when you had selected your holds
and hit the button.
