Well Tony I agree with your feelings. I we are seeing the same thing. We haven's paid for a room in years, but also now they are down to 2-3 nights comped and pay for the forth (hate spending a whole day flying from MI and only stay three nights). After years staying at IP, Ya I know, I've heard it for years, but with lots of comps including meals. Enters corporate America, now it is all points. Not a big player but drop 2 k most trips, two or three times a year. Been Platinum player last couple years now they raise the bar ON THAT! The level really only gave us shorter lines now and then and more offers, now and then, but not much anymore. We do have our rooms comped for next trip at the end of Sept. at Harrah's and for a guys only trip end of Nov, but wonder after that. I sure am not going to pay a big nightly price with resort fees on top of that. I don't use the resort stuff! CET has gotten worse at this stuff and we are thinking of trying TI or
downtown when we get to that point. Will see what happens. Got hooked on Vegas in the late 60's but slowly getting it out of my system, lol. Wish the Casino 'suits' would read these columns and have an idea what regular visitors feel about their new greed. Makes the local places look better all the time. John in Caro t-33.

Subject: [casino_comps] Re: Discuss new(er) casinos and their comps
I'm having a bit of a love/hate relationship with Las Vegas right now. I'm still jonesin' something fierce to go back (sooner rather than later)...but I fear that my discovered love for the city was during the 2007-2010 economic downturn which meant they were throwing comps my way. Now that's just not happening...and I don't think my play has changed (enough to negatively impact my ADT). Before I could get comped at any CET property any time I wanted (weekends included, save maybe Caesars Palace on busy weekends). Now, they want me to pay for rooms at Flamingo/Harrahs/Ballys...that's unacceptable. I remember in either 2008 or 2009, getting offers for comps stays at Caesars Palace with comped tix to Elton/Cher/Celine...or free stays and $300 freeplay/hotel credit. Now I'm getting stuck with "resort fees".
Sheldon Adelson was bemoaning the price he (or Steve Wynn) can charge for for their hotel rooms. But Shel, baby, I gotta tell ya...people looking to get comped rooms at Bally's ain't your target demo, buddy. I wish Mr. Adelson's theory was correct. (Essentially that with the 10,000+ hotel rooms that CET & MGM/Mirage have, they need to *give them away*) I'm here to tell you I'm not getting the offers I used to get...and again, my play has not changed.
Well, there you go. Just one person's opinion on the current state of LV.
Doing my part to help populate these boards with some good discussion,

I propose starting a dialog on AC comps and recent AC problems, new casinos around the country e.g. Horseshoe Cleveland, and how about all of these "racinos" and state-run "lotto gaming" establishments. I miss reading about peoples experiences, highs and lows, and yes, even about Las Vegas. What do you think about Cosmopolitan, Aria, other casinos? I know many think Vegas is a played out topic, but if that's the case then why are so many still visiting? Don't tell me it's only because of the Hangover films!
