For people who don't like Facebook, one idea would be to join FB but do not add any friends or do anything except go to a new vpfree group on FB. You can limit your privacy that way and avoid most FB features.

Anyway I am very saddened by this, having been with the group in its several incarnations stemming from the Skip Hughes days. The end of an era.
