Many years ago before I understood anything about VP odds I ran into a wonderful set of machines on a Carnival Cruise. It was the week after the Inaugural cruise so all the machines were brand new. I tried playing some kind of Bonus Poker Progressive machine and I couldn't figure out why I was winning so much! Lots of four of a kinds and they were all progressives. The four machines were quarters but the progressives started at $250 and Aces was $600. Later figured out they should have started at $62.50 and $150. Machines had to run quarters through to pay you out and all of the casino employees knew my name soon! I kept my husband busy running buckets of quarters to the cage.
Another man was in there every hour the casino was open and I can tell now that he had figured out their error....but he wasn't getting quite as many 4OAKs as I was. (But he still did pretty good!) Later I took the notes I had made about the wins with me on our trip to Vegas and figured out they had set the machines incorrectly. I wonder how long they kept those machines set at those odds? We carried over $10,000 in cash off that ship :)
