A couple of comments:
Any experienced VP player should know to pause and verify that all the cards are held when dealt a "big" pat hand. This is just common sense.
***"Fortunately for Sarah, the casino paid her off. They realized that no player would intentionally make any other play than to hold all five cards."***
I don't know about that. At least once I have actually witnessed a novice Quick Quads player who didn't understand the game hold trips alone with a dealt QQ. When you see this sort of mistake, it makes you wonder why casinos ever worry about offering good pay tables.
