When I make my annual birthday trip to Vegas, I like to stay a couple of nights downtown and a couple of nights on the Strip. I usually have plenty of room comps to choose from, but last year, I chose to take a road trip to Biloxi instead of making my regular trip to Vegas. Turns out, most Vegas casinos stop sending mail offers when you haven't been there in the past 18 months, so I had nothing. To make a long story short, I managed to get 2 nights comped at Main Street Station and 2 nights at the Quad (the old Imperial Palace). I just logged onto my Total Rewards account and looked up the best offer available to me in Vegas, the comped room at the Quad came up. It took a little more effort to get the 2 free nights at Main Street Station. They originally offered me a casino rate; I declined and told them I hadn't paid for a room at a casino in the past 20 years (which is true) and that I had plenty of comps from other casinos to choose from (which wasn't exactly true) but that I'd hoped to be able to stay and play at Main Street Station (truth again). Anyway, it worked...never hurts to ask.
