Your timing was off by several years. Earlier in this decade those same machines frequently had anywhere between .7 to 1% cashback, depending on the promo.
More recently, there was a dollar bank which was mistakenly set to the slot cashback of .25. There was even a 100% pay schedule on those machines, and 10-12x multipliers. Even I would go to Indio for a 3% dollar play.
And somewhere in that region, isn't there a mistake in the neighborhood of 2.3% at quarters? (no, I do not care to share, you have to find that one on your own).
They've been beat enough on the VP this decade and really are not a very big casino to get beat like they did, so they're very tight on the theos and player reinvestment. It's one of the better places to play, but I wouldn't dream of playing the SAB.
