I've made trips to Vegas in Dec. the past two years in conjunction with HET's "Winterfest," when they offer 3 nights of comp rooms and various tournaments to all Diamond (and I think Platinum) level players during three separate weeks. This years' participating hotels are Bally's, Harrah's, Flamingo, Imperial Palace & Rio. This year "Winterfest" takes place Sun-Thurs of Thanksgiving Week; then Sun-Thurs Dec. 13-16; and finally Sun-Thurs of Christmas week. The event tends to at least add some bodies to what is a traditionally slower period. Also, early each December you have the National Finals Rodeo Competition in town. This is a major sell-out event that, this year, runs from Dec. 3rd through the 12th. Those cowboys take up a lot of rooms at downtown & off-strip establishments.
I'll be there again this December. Not participating in Winterfest, but taking advantage of other offers from places with decent v.p. Personally - I love going this time of year because of the lower body count and the cooler temps.
