I'm not a lawyer, but I've been told by one that this IS stealing, and you should advise security of the situation. Apparently this is the same even if you found cash.
Whether this is correct or not, of course, may even depend on state law, but I believe there was a discussion on this forum in the past that supports my understanding.
And of course, whether you choose to go ahead and take the money or not, regardless of the legal implications, is an individual choice with the attendant risk and rewards.
