[vpFREE] Re: Binions and "Bonus" Jacks or Better

The same strategy that gets you 99.54% from 50/9/6 JOB will get you 99.98% on 90/9/6 JOB. All the strategy changes that you found will get you just 0.015% additional return. On a 25c game at 600 hands an hour, you would gain an additional 11 cents/hr from the strategy changes.

I was just in the process of working this strategy out using Video Poker for Winners, in anticipation of a visit to South Point, where they have this game (in addition to at Binion's). Using that software, the standard JoB generates 34 different rules in its playing strategy, but the Bonus version generates 44. As you might imagine, all hands involving 3 or 4 to the straight flush are higher in priority than usual, and worse yet they are not easily categorized. Using the common terminology of 3SF+/-n (3 to a SF, where N is the number of high cards minus the number of gaps), the rules don't categorize easily. For example, some 3SF+1 are higher than others, depending on the specific cards. The 3SF+1 consisting of JT9 is worth more than a low pair, but the 3SF+1 consisting of QJ9 is worth less. 4SF rules are also more complex. If you can remember all these rules to squeeze out that little bonus in the payout, go for it. (And if you don't play by the exact strategy, your long-term payout will not be 99.996.)
