I for one think these points are at risk; the programs are labeled as being subject to change -- if nothing else, the points may be devalued.

I've been saving them, but with rumors of bankruptcy, I figure my "claims" on what the HET properties "owe" me is the same as any other creditor, and can be dismissed or paid in reduced percentages.

Of course, if you're satisfied with the free stuff in the Diamond lounge or any other comps you're getting without using the points, go ahead and save them, since absolutely free is better than using points that MIGHT still be valuable in the future. In Indiana, the Diamond lounges are not great, but it sounds like they are a lot better than the downgrades in service and food at Vegas properties (and to my knowledge, no problem going twice in a day).

I was at Horseshoe Hammond Indiana on Saturday (alone) and thought I'd use some up by picking up a couple of nice steaks at the steakhouse to take home and reheat with my wife later in the week. They said they only do carryout for 7 Star (I'm "only" Diamond). Went to the deli and had a sandwich, and picked up a couple more for home, but that doesn't eat up the points nearly as fast. I think I might have been able to get a table, place an order for the steaks, and then get a "go" box for them (I've done this elsewhere, and the servers are more interested in accomodating - perhaps because they receive a tip for a low-maintenance customer).

Plan to use some more next weekend too, at Horseshoe Southern Indiana (which I have not visited for about a year now); my previous experience there is not with the steakhouse, but with the other restaurant serving steaks, where I've had no trouble getting a couple for carryout.

PS - order them rare; they'll get cooked to a more done level when you reheat them. If you like them rare, not sure what you need to do to get them to come out that way, except don't heat them too long, I guess.
