[casino_comps] Re: Free hotel comps

If you go to gamble and you're on a budget, you can't beat downtown. You can always get a spot at a $5 table, even during peak hours. $5 tables are hard to come by on the Strip even during off hours, when you can find one it's not going to be at one of the nicer casinos...the Riviera, Imperial Palace, O'Shea's, places like that are the only ones you'll ever get a $5 table. If you play a lot of video poker, you'll notice that the machines downtown pay a lot better than the ones on the Strip too. 8-1 for a full house is pretty standard downtown on a Bonus Poker machine, most of the ones on the Strip pay 6-1. Personally, I don't like the crowds on the Strip, I'm just a lot more comfortable playing downtown. Everything's more convenient, too...you can walk from one end of Fremont Street to the other in the time it takes to walk from the Bellagio to Caesars Palace. The casino/hotels on the Strip are a lot nicer than the ones downtown, but if you're there to gamble, who cares? It's just a lot more relaxed atmosphere downtown, I usually play some on the Strip during the day but at night I always play downtown.
