[vpFREE] Getting Overcomped at CET.

I've followed with interest a thread on another gambling forum about being overcomped by CET.  Is that even possible?  Apparently so for at least a one player.  One of the benefits of making 7 Stars is it qualifies you to be comped up to 4 nights a week at any CET property for two years.  If a person were to actually take advantage of this then we are talking 400 comp days. And you don't go through a host to book the rooms.  You call an 800 number.

The main person exploiting this loophole always qualifies himself for 7 Stars every year so then we are talking about up to 200 comped days per year.  He's a tournament poker player and uses the comped rooms to defray his expenses. In just one example he spends 23 days a year at the Rio during the WSOP....all comped.  Then there are the other tournaments he plays.

He has a pretty good modus operandi. There are some places left in the country where there are 9/6 Jacks and it's just $10 per tier credit.  To get to 7 Stars status he plays for ten days, running 5000 TC's per day.  When you run 5000 TC's in one day you get a 10,000 TC bonus.  After ten days he has run 50,000 TC's but is credited with 150,000 TC's which is what it takes to gain 7 Stars status. Once he gains 7 Stars status he quits playing for the year.

So he is running a $500,000 wager.  With the 9/6 Jacks you are taking .46% theoretical loss.  So his theoretical cost to get to 7 Stars is $2300.  What I don't know so far is if freeplay is also a part of the equation.  If it is then his cost is cut even further.

I like his idea.  And I've done some imagining about whether it would behoove a video poker pro to do the same thing.  I think it depends.  If a vp pro had advantage plays around the country that he could run a circuit on....and didn't want to run too much comp on those properties so as not to wear out his welcome....then staying at a CET property nearby would be a good idea.

Am I going to do anything like this? No. I'm quite happy in my little Montana home.  But I always love observing how other pros do things.
