I always pay off my markers when I leave the casino, either with cash if I have won or with a check if I have lost. I only establish a credit line with a casino if I have stayed there at least once and like the place enough so that I know I will be a regular there.
Some casinos will offer you some bonuses for establishing a marker credit line or for bringing front money and depositing it at the cage. This would be something arranged by a host.
I was offered %10 in free play by PH for doing this but I didn't take them up on it, because I doubt that I will ever return there.

Are there any advantages for VP players to take a marker? Some years back taking a marker at the casino used to get some great comps but I don't imagine it works this way at the casinos today, unless you are 'high roller' category?
Since fees are so commonplace these days with the airlines, banks, etc., does the casino charge the customer a fee for the marker?
Any opinions on casino markers in general?
Thanks much!
